PAC Project 9.0 is expected to be released next week.  It will work with either 8.5c or 9.0 firmware.  If controller redundancy is not needed, use firmware 8.5c.  All SNAP PAC controllers and brains will ship with 8.5c firmware.  You will need to download 9.0 firmware if using controller redundancy.

A Tip from Opto 22 for finding IP address by using PAC Manager if IP address was not written on a brain or controller’s white label (where MAC address f unit is printed).

1. Open PAC Manager – Start>Programs>Opto 22>PAC Project>PAC Manager
2. On PAC Manager main window, under Tools, select Find Opto 22 MMP devices
3. Dialog box will appear.  Click Find button on lower left.
4. All Opto 22 devices on your network will appear.  Locate the brain or controller’s MAC address.  Not only does it show IP address, it will also show the device type’s current firmware version, double clicking the device will give you even more details

SICK introduces:

MHTB15 & MHTB15V – These cylindrical photoelectric sensors are designed to save space and are the shortest length in a M18 housing on the market of these types of sensors.  They offer superior background suppression technology enabling them to ignore stray background reflections, detect multi-colored/shiny objects, and provide high immunity to ambient light, thus increased throughput.  Ideal for washdown applications since MHTB15 has a plastic housing and MHTB15V has a stainless steel housing.

Color Range E – High speed 3D and color in one camera.  Provides high resolution color measurements.  Great for applications where both 3D shape and color are important.  Since Color Range E can see it all, it provides reliable inspection and cost-efficient solutions.By measuring both 3D shape and color of objects and parts, more reliable decision can be made to allow production plants to improve their up-time, throughput and product quality.

The washdown version of the C4000 Micro’s housing/enclosure rating and its cable rating have been upgraded to IP 69K rating.  It can withstand 100 bar pressure at temps up to 80 degrees Celsius.

What is new with Parker:

Oriental Motor releases:

High-Torque High Efficiency Stepping Motors by combining superior performance of Oriental Motor’s high torque motor with the latest technology advancements in efficiency, achieving superior overall performance in a 2-phase stepping motor.  These significantly reduce amount of heat generated from the motor, thus lowering cost of ownership due to reduction of cooling needs, increase service life of the motor due to cooler operating temperature, and reduces problems found with thermal expansion.  40% less power is consumed when compared at rated current to conventional stepping motors’ rated current.  They allow for smaller power supplies to be used to power the motor/driver.
